Best Year of My Life

Today is 01 January 2010. The last year has been the most eventful, and most rewarding of my life. I managed to get married and have a daughter all within the same year!

Tim and I were married 28 June 2009. My parents put on an absolutely beautiful wedding for us, and I seriously could not have asked for more. We chose a gorgeous venue in Parley's Canyon called Rose Sachs Gardens. There were over 200 guests, and we did a full dinner and dancing, followed by a splash of karaoke. The ceremony was exquisite. I cried the whole time, as did my parents, but it was beautiful. Tim and I ended the night running down the stairs to where friends and family were waving sparklers, and we drove off into the night as Mr. and Mrs. in a white stretch limo.

I am so lucky to have found the love of my life. After years of almost going down this path with "the wrong man", I was fortunate enough to have started this path with the perfect man. Tim is everything I could ask for in a partner, father, and friend, and so much more than I ever dreamed of. I remember I am lucky to have him, every day of my life.

09 December 2009 My water broke while I was on rounds at the hospital, only I didn't know it. 10 December 2009 My contractions got more and more regular around 9:00 pm, so we rounded up the family for the trip to the hospital. There they decided that my water really was broken, and admitted me to labor and delivery. One epidural, numerous baby monitors, and 25 hours later, Dr. Hebert came in to give me interesting news. Labor had not progressed, and it was time to help the baby. I had to have a cesarean. It seemed as though maybe three minutes passed, and then I was in the OR. Tim was there next to me, holding my hand, and whispering sweet reassuring words, but I was anxious as could be. My mom was also let into the OR, and she held my face as I lay there panicking. A little tugging, some beeping, and the announcement via my daughter's lungs that she had entered this world. 10:25 pm, 11 December 2009. Absolute best moment of my life. London Deng-Yue Chen-Watts.

So my daughter and I have the same birthday, almost down to the time of day. I have spent the last three weeks learning to be mom, and simply enjoying every second I am holding my precious angel. Tim is an amazing father and partner, and he loves that little girl more than anything in the world. London has brought such joy to my entire family. My mom and dad can't get enough of her, and her aunt and uncles are more than willing to help with anything. Christmas was magical because of her, although at two weeks of age I'm sure she couldn't care less about the presents under the tree.

I'm the luckiest woman in the world. I don't know how else to put it.
